What to Expect When Buying a Typewriter from The Typewriter Tale

Buying a typewriter from The Typewriter Tale

Every typewriter I sell has a story, and I make sure it’s ready for you to write your own. Each machine is carefully selected, tested, cleaned, and, when needed, restored with love and patience. I want you to receive not just a typewriter, but a piece of history that works great for you to start using it.

What’s always included

• The original case, unless the listing clearly says otherwise.

• A brand-new ribbon, so you can start typing right away.

• Instructions in PDF (in English, but I can prepare them in another language if you prefer).

A little reminder

These are vintage machines, and each one carries its own story. Some might have marks of use from their long journey through time, so please (please!!!) check the photos carefully, as I always try to capture these details honestly. And if you want more photos, let me know and I will happily send them.

Also, keep in mind: the price of each typewriter depends on its condition, rarity, and accessories. That’s why even two machines of the same model can have different prices.

About shipping

I take great care when packing each machine, and every order is shipped insured and with the carriage lock engaged. Don’t worry if, when it arrives, it seems like it “doesn’t work”, that’s just the lock. The instructions will guide you on how to release it.

For international orders: because shipping costs are so high, I can’t offer a warranty. But you’ll never be on your own, I’m always happy to help if you need guidance, or if something comes loose during shipping.

Ink ribbons

Every typewriter comes with a fresh ribbon. I also sell extra ribbons at a reduced price, either individually or in packs. Depending on where you live, you can also find compatible ones on Amazon.

Thank you for trusting me with these beautiful machines. Each typewriter I send out has passed through my hands with care, and I truly hope it brings you as much joy as I felt preparing it for you.
